But the games will not be ready until Friday September 23rd.
Codes would not allow us to operate a separate business entity in the space next to Square Pizza.. The Electric Theatre Arcade has ceased. We hope to have a permanent home for our entire collection, but starting 9-23-11 you can still play 17 games in the Square Pizza party room!
The party room has been planned for 2 years, and have always planned to have games. Because of the great response from the public for these classic games over Labor Day weekend, we will be providing the coin operated games for the space permanently.

Antique Games include: Galaga, Ms Pacman, Joust, Donkey Kong, Tapper, Punchout!, Centipede, Dig Dug, Tron, Frogger, and 2 additional classic video titles that will be rotated in from time to time. The space will also feature Star Wars video pinball, South Park pinball, and the Flintstones pinball.
Air Hockey and Skeeball will also be added!
No admission is required and all games will be quarter play.
Individual licenses will be purchased by Square pizza for each machine from the city by this date. We apologize to the City of Independence, Missouri for not having all the proper game permits. We greatly appreciate Ken and Cindy McClain for letting us test the demand or these 30 year old games.
We also Greatly apologize to those that have traveled to see and play the vintage games over the past 12 days and have not been allowed. My passion for this endeavor has not waned, and we thank you for your support and look forward to having the games ready in the party room by Friday September 23rd!

The Electric Theatre Vintage Arcade will be opening on the Historic Square in Independence, Missouri September 2nd, 2011. The arcade is reminiscent of a 1980′s video arcade like Aladdin’s Castle, Space Port, and Showbiz Pizza. The golden age of video games is widely considered from 1979-1983. This collection of games focuses on titles like Ms. Pacman, Centipede, Galaga, Joust, Donkey Kong, and Paperboy to name a few.

Mike Freeland is the collector and entrepreneur owns this collection. It has taken him Freeland 15 years to find and restore many of these machines.

Ken and Cindy McClain have partnered with Freeland to bring these games to the new party room at Square Pizza. McClain Enterprises are the creators and owners of dozens of businesses on the Historic Independence Square including Square Pizza and the brand new Up Dog.

This location will provide a temporary home showcasing a partial collection of the arcade’s inventory. They hope that people will love the Arcade, and the demand to play the games will allow them to expand into the former Electric Theatre located at 119 W Lexington. This original theater dates back to 1917 and was later changed to the Plaza Theatre. They chose to keep the original spelling of theatre to preserve history.

All games will be set to free play (no quarters or tokens) and will charging a $5 admission for the Santa Cali Gon weekend festival September 2nd-5th. They will also have a $10 option that gets you in and out all day, or $20 for the weekend.
